More Avast Woes...

Hii...
I have an HP 400 series slim desktop/ 8.1. Client attempted to install Avast paid version on it (bought a 3 license deal from avast for almost $100). System now boots to black screen, no cursor. With the 2nd license, he installed Avast on his daughter's 8.1 laptop and now the same thing with it - back screen, no cursor.
I've attempted every boot repair in the book for Win 8 to no avail. At this point I'm backing up data and going for a reinstall.
Just wanted to let everyone know that Avast seems to be having some real issues going on right now...
